This cup is part of a burial ensemble believed to belong to an elite female. It was found together with several large accessories such as necklaces and bangles, suggesting high rank and wealth. Ethnographic accounts of Philippine burial practices also mention the inclusion of food-related offerings for the dead, to aide them in their journey to the afterlife.
