There were three sources of Philippine peso banknotes during the Japanese Occupation: the Japanese Government, Emergency Currency Boards of the provinces, and the Philippine National Bank. The Japanese government punished the use of other currencies besides Japanese Invasion Money, but its low value encouraged the use of emergency currencies and PNB notes. This particular 10-peso bill was issued by the Iloilo provincial treasury in 1944, a year before the end of WW2.
