International Museum Day 2018

International Museum Day 2018 is just around the corner and Ayala Museum invites you to celebrate it with them for free this coming May 20, 2018! International Museum Day is the one day a year that puts museums at the forefront and where museums collectively open its doors for free to the public.

This year’s theme is “Hyperconnected Museums: New Approaches, New Publics”, highlighting the importance of embracing technology and innovations to change up the museum experience and gain new audiences.

With the launch of its Virtual Reality Rizal experience last year and its own app just last month, Ayala Museum has made it known that it is not afraid to use technology to create new and exciting museum experiences. The museum recognizes the importance of the digital experience in enhancing the more traditional features of the museum.

Even Ayala Museum’s current changing exhibits – Erwin Wurm’s One Minute Sculptures and Alwin Reamillo’s Bayanihan Hopping Spirit House – showcase new approaches to art. Tossing aside the strict rules that usually accompany galleries, these exhibits allow visitors to interact with the art, even become the art, and just have fun with the experience.

Also featured are Ayala Museum’s long-standing permanent collections – Gold of Ancestors, the Dioramas of Philippine History, A Millennium of Contact, Art and the Order of Nature, and Fernando Zobel.

Other than gallery perusals, take part in workshops and activities from Fujifilm Philippines and Bayanihan Hopping Spirit House’s Alwin Reamillo:
