Ayala Museum presents
ART OVER COFFEE
Sansó: Setting the Stage
with Toym Imao and James Reyes
12 August 2016 | 3 – 5 PM
Ground Floor Lobby, Ayala Museum
Meet and greet the men who brought the artist’s Juvenal Sansó’s stage and costume designs to life in the ongoing exhibition, Sansó: Setting the Stage, and discover, over coffee, how they were inspired by the great modernist.
About the Exhibition
Internationally-acclaimed visual artist Juvenal Sansó, whose prolific and distinguished career in printmaking and painting spans 70 years this year, has produced quite a number of stage and costume designs for his favorite theater form: the opera. His paintings and studies for the stage are gathered in this exhibition co-presented by Ayala Museum and Fundacion Sansó to bring the artist’s little known scenographic work to the fore.
About the Artists
Toym Imao, son of National Artist Abdulmari Imao and an artist in his own right, has created a maquette and installations based on Sansó’s designs for the stage. James Reyes brings to life Sansó’s vision for Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Alongside Sansó’s original designs, the works of our two speakers both re-interpret and pay homage.
