Selected objects from the Ayala Museum collection were borrowed in recent years by other museums here and abroad. These special loans to major local and international exhibitions show how certain objects in the Ayala Museum collection lend their characteristic uniqueness or particular contexts in varying curatorial environments.
This exhibition aims to showcase the various objects in the fine arts, ethnographic, and archaeological holdings of the museum that were included as key components in the narrative of other histories and perspectives. The museum object loans are visual representatives of Philippine art and culture and contribute to how other museums “tell the story”of our shared creativity and heritage. The limestone burial jars, the kulintangan (brass gong ensemble), the pasiking (backpack with rain shield), and the gold kinnari (bird-woman image) have traveled around the globe—to the Asia Society Museum in New York, the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore, the musée du quai Branly in Paris and the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra.
